Chris Dennis

As a trained actor Chris worked extensively with theatrical makeup and found a passion for makeup. Chris worked and trained with Laura Mercier at the start of creating her now international respected brand. She took his passion and made him the first member of her international artistry team travelling around the globe with her and holding Q&A master-classes.

Chris held Beauty and Bridal master-classes in Bergdorf Goodman and Saks 5th Avenue in New York and also Neiman Marcus in Chicago, Illinois. Upon going freelance Chris was given his own by appointment makeup studio in Harrods. During this time Chris established a strong celebrity client base including Lucy Benjamin, Cilla Black Michelle Collins, Barbra Windsor, Zoe Ball, Toyah Wilcox, Cherie Blair, Nigella Lawson, Julie Walters, David Gest, Amanda Barry, Jennifer Ellison, Meg Matthews, Kelly Le Roc, Mel C, Boyzone, Julian Clary, and Lulu.Chris has also worked on makeup videos for Boyzone and Katie Melua and can be seen as a regular guest presenter on QVC. Chris being signed to Pamela Anderson for the last three years and has carried out two Playboy covers. Other editorial magazines to display his work include Hello, OK!, Heat, Closer, Sunday Times, Grazia and Harrods Magazine.Most recently Chris was a member of the make-up team for The Phantom of the Opera’s 25th Gala performance at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011. Danielle Tarento

Danielle is a freelance producer and casting director. She won Best Producer at the Off West End Awards 2012.

She trained as an actress at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and worked in theatre, television and film for nine years before becoming a producer. Donna Soto-Morettini

CASTING DIRECTOR & PERFORMANCE COACH

Donna Soto-Morettini worked for many years as a professional singer and actress, in Southern California and throughout the western United States. She holds a PhD from Oxford University, and has been training professional actors and singers for 20 years. She has served as Director of Drama for the Royal Scottish Conservatoire, Head of Acting and Dance for Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, and Head of Acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.

Since 2007 she has worked as a Casting Director and Performance Coach for television, and credits include How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria, Any Dream Will do, I’d Do Anything, Over the Rainbow (BBC), Popstar to Operastar, Superstar (ITV), and The Voice (BBC).

She is the author of Popular Singing, The Philosophical Actor (winner of the Choice Award for Outstanding Academic Title 2011) and her book, Mastering Auditions: How to Perform Under Pressure will be published by Methuen in September.

Geoff Colman

Geoffrey Colman is currently Head of Acting at the world renowned Central School of Speech and Drama, London University. He has auditioned quite literally thousands of people.

As a freelance director and acting coach, Geoffrey’s career has combined work in opera, theatre and film/TV. In this diverse field he has worked with playwrights, composers, actors and singers from various performance contexts ranging from writers at the National Theatre of Finland and Institut del Teatre Barcelona, to actors with Miramax Films, models on Britain’s Next Top Model, the comedian Lenny Henry and the award winning international Transglobal Underground recording artist Natasha Atlas.

Geoffrey is an Associate Master of The Theatre Royal Haymarket, London.

Jennifer Reischel is an award-nominated author, theatre critic, feature writer and trained performing arts professional. Her industry guide “So you want to tread the boards” was nominated for an award in the “How-to” category at the 2010 London Book Festival, is recommended by Elaine Paige and includes a foreword by Leslie Bricusse.Originally of German heritage, Jennifer Reischel was raised and schooled bilingually, including in the Far East. Completing the three-year musical theatre degree at Mountview Academy in 2002, Jennifer has since gathered a variety of performance experience. In addition to musical theatre shows, touring play work and filming a Television pilot, Jennifer has also performed her one-woman cabaret show at London’s Pizza on the Park, Lauderdale House, Vauxhall Tavern and at jazz venues in Singapore. Further experience includes guest presenting on well-known Podcast Musicaltalk and solo vocal recordings for UK Jazz FM Radio. Jennifer is currently a member of the West End Chorus, singing in concert with artists such as Brian May, Kerry Ellis, Josh Groban and Idina Menzel, and most recently Roger Moore, Vanessa Redgrave and Joanna Lumley.As a writer, Jennifer is a regular feature article contributor and theatre critic for The Stage. She is also a central reviewer of the annual drama school showcases, has written for the Dear John column, as well as originating and editing The Stage Graduates Club e-newsletter. Further writing includes contributions to the “The Actors Yearbook”, theatre reviews and feature articles for Fringe Review and short story fiction for Artshub. Other experience includes co-casting plays for Writers Avenue performed at the Soho Theatre in 2011.When not following her creative pursuits, Jennifer runs the communications aspect for a leading European Risk Management team in the City.

Jo Hawes

CHILDREN’S CASTING DIRECTOR

Jo decided at 7 years old that she was going to work in professional entertainment, although she had little idea of what that might mean at the time. This decision was made after being completely mesmerised by Eric Porter’s portrayal of Soames in The Forsyte Saga. Since he was a well-known Shakespearean actor she is delighted, all these years later, to be working for the Royal Shakespeare Company on Matilda – the Musical.She started her career at the age of 15 as a dresser at the Theatre Royal Windsor after pestering for a job for two years. After training as a Stage Manager at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, she returned to Windsor as a member of the stage management team. After 18 months she was offered a job on Annie in the West End. As a stage manager she worked on (amongst other productions) three further musicals – La Cage Aux Folles, The Pirates of Penzanze and On Your Toes.Since becoming a Children’s Casting Director 17 years ago she has worked on over 75 productions – mainly musicals in the West End and on tour – for all the leading theatrical producers. Current productions include Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre, Shrek at Drury Lane, Oliver!, The Lion King and South Pacific all on tour.In 2010 Jo began giving Masterclasses in The Art of Auditioning. She had auditioned many children but felt that many of them do not give their best because they have never been taught the technique of auditioning. She travels all over the country and has taught many hundreds of children. Her book Children In Theatre is being published in January by Oberon Books.Jo is married to professional musician Tim Hawes and they live in Berkshire with their children, two of whom are also in theatre. Jo and Tim’s life outside theatre includes owning three rental properties in Orlando, Florida.

She trained at the New College of Speech and Drama and worked for 25 years as an actor, director and playwright. She has worked in all media, frequently been an Equity Deputy and assisted on Equity contract negotiations with ITC. She also taught at Rose Bruford College. As an actor she was represented by 3 different agents and a co-op, Grays Management.

When Grays decided to become a personal management, Mary became the main agent, working there until 2007. She then founded Nelson Browne with business partners Michael and Angela Browne.

The agency is part of a group of companies with Michael Browne Associates (corporate roleplay), and Angela Browne Ltd (theatrical production). Nelson Browne is a member of the PMA.

Michael Wharley is a successful photographer, with over 10 years experience of the business.A graduate of Oxford University and the Central School of Speech and Drama, Michael worked as a stage actor for six years, appearing in over 30 West End, regional repertory, Number 1 touring and London Fringe productions. Nigel Townsend

Y Touring Theatre company/OneKX centre

Nigel Townsend is director, founder and current Creative Director of Y Touring Theatre Company, Central YMCA’s award-winning young people’s touring theatre company, dedicated to exploring contemporary issues. Y Touring, in partnership with organisations including the Wellcome Trust, the DfEE, the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the BBC, Guys, Kings and Thomas’, and the National Theatre, has produced 55 national tours for over one and half million young people, teachers, youth leaders, health and science professionals and members of the general public, exploring topics including: HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancy, clinical depression, xenotransplantation, stem cell therapy, and emerging neurotechnologies.

In 1995 Y Touring introduced the Theatre of Debate concept. Each Theatre of Debate project consists of a play created to engage the target audience in an informed debate about a specific subject. The play is followed by a live debate between the actors in character and the audience supported by the use of electronic voting. The play and debate are supported by extensive online resources. The development of each Theatre of Debate project begins with a workshop bringing playwrights, experts and members of the target audience together to creatively explore the chosen subject.

Richard Evans CDG started out as an actor in 1979. He performed professionally for 10 years before making the move to the other side of the audition table as a casting director and has since cast a wide variety of high profile productions in all media.He is a member of The Casting Directors’ Guild of Great Britain and Ireland. Thomas Hescott

Thomas was born in Nottingham and attended the ITV Television Workshop. As a child actor he appeared in numerous TV programmes including Woof, Dramarama, and BBC2 film Ice Dance by Stephen Lowe.
